Immagine that your room window can display Twitter updates and the latest news from the web. One of the coolest innovations showcased at CES 2012 is the transparent LCD from Samsung. According to the official announcements, this is the world’s first transparent LCD tht will enter mass production.

The amazing technology that already won a 2012 CES Innovations Award, allows users to see through the LCD while browsing the latest web updates using touch and gestures. In addition to this capability, the new LCD panels from Samsung have the best transmittance rate, while consuming 90% less electricity compared to classic LCDs, and this is enabled by the use of the ambient light instead of backlight.

Samsung will release transparent LCD panels in black and white as well as color, with a 500:1 contrast ratio at a resolution of 1680 x 1050 pixel.
