Media tablets are slowly becoming the next rant in the gadget world and while we have heard of the Nokia Internet Tablet, Archos has countered with the Internet Media Tablet, available in three models.

Each tablet allows the user to record TV shows, playback HD content adding a new dimension and choice for people investing heavily in getting the latest gadgets in the market. A definite must have for the mobile Internet enthusiast and something that will definitely be a hot item in the coming months on the latest gadgets to get in the market.

You may be hesitant on the brand though. Unlike Nokia, Archos is not that established of a brand. But once the buyers start racking in, getting one tablet after another, expect the demand the swell and perhaps the price too!

In a world where fuel has been a hindrance in allowing public transportation to serve the public better, alternative methods of using fuel are in the limelight. Electric cars are being buzzed up and we see most countries unveiling various options such as this solar powered cab that roams Malibu.

No one can attest to it better other than famous director James Cameron who experienced riding in these solar powered cabs firsthand. Cameron is known to be a hit when it comes to futuristic films and this time around, he is not only playing around with them in his mind, he is living the fruits of the future at this very moment.

The famous director (who we should also mentioned embraced the past with Titanic), was spotted a couple weeks ago at the Malibu Arts Festival checking out and riding around in the Solartaxi; the first completely solar-powered car to drive around the world. As one would expect, this is an emissions-free vehicle that derives its power completely from the sun. It seats two, has three wheels and pulls a trailer covered in solar panels to charge the batteries in the front of the car. It has a top speed of about 50mph and can do roughly 100 miles on a six-hour charge. So far, the inventor, Louis Palmer, has taken the vehicle to Europe, the Middle East, Asia, New Zealand and now North America.

One thing about people with gadgets is that they want sustainable stuff that will not pose a problem when they are at home. Gadgets come in all shapes and sizes and among them include portable universal remote controls that are use to operate you television, stereo, DVD player or any standard home entertainment system from afar. But the problem starts when you are out of batteries to use, especially if they are used up.

Some would use the rechargeable batteries while others have spare ones on hand. But why wait for such an inconvenience when you can get one of these EZ Power Wind Up Universal Remotes?

“Bringing an end to the frustration of remote controls running out of juice at the crucial moment, this revolutionary remote control does away with batteries, replacing them with an eco-friendly wind-up alternative. The remote, which can control up to six devices, is powered by an internal battery which is charged by the handy jog shuttle mechanism on its face. Thirty turns is enough to fully charge the unit, and a full charge lasts for seven days. The Wind-Up Remote Control can be used to operate the following: Cable Box Satellite Television DVD VCR and an auxiliary appliance. The remote control comes with full instructions on how to programme it for all major branded appliances.”

Other than being unique, it is bound to solve a lot of issues for you. Check it out!

Thanks to science, we may soon experience the real “Bionic Man”. We all remember this television series back in the 80’s which starred Lee Majors and while all of that was purely due to camera tricks, the scientists of the University of Pittsburgh may soon unleash the first official bionic limb to be used by people who have had amputations.

Scientists at the University of Pittsburgh recently succeeded in implanting sensors in the brain of a monkey, allowing it to move a mechanical arm with his thoughts. This is the latest breakthrough in the field of Neuroprosthetics, where implanted chips carry signals to the remaining limbs of an amputee, guiding movement.

If the research holds, breakthroughs like these could lead to a reassessment of disabled people as ‘bionic’ and fully able, and lead to a new era of mind-controlled gadgets.

Source

It is all a matter of using your mind to move and perhaps stronger than the standard movement of the person with the normal limbs. But for the people missing a part, this may just keep them in step with us or even make them step farther.

According to an article on the Washington Post, the US Department of Homeland Security now has the right to detain laptops and any other gadget that can hold information, look into the contents, and possibly save notes or records.

Federal agents may take a traveler’s laptop computer or other electronic device to an off-site location for an unspecified period of time without any suspicion of wrongdoing, as part of border search policies the Department of Homeland Security recently disclosed.

Also, officials may share copies of the laptop’s contents with other agencies and private entities for language translation, data decryption or other reasons, according to the policies, dated July 16 and issued by two DHS agencies, U.S. Customs and Border Protection and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

This would prove to be a hassle if you’re traveling on business and DHS agents impound your equipment. How about storing sensitive information in your brain instead? I guess they can’t just take that from you.
